FGV Rio Law PhD degree course is the first in Brazil focused on Law and Regulation, with two lines of research: "Regulatory Governance, Institutions, and Justice" and "Economy, Intervention, and Regulatory Strategies."

The course topic is considered central in Brazil and the world, being raised in debates about recent transformations in the Government structure, such as the discussion about issues related to the idealization, implementation, and monitoring of public policies and the development of the infrastructure sectors.

With a duration of four years, the PhD's degree course has 810 class hours, divided into disciplines (mandatory, common elective, and specific elective), supervised activities, research groups, guidance, qualification, and dissertation submission activities.

Classes are held in the morning and/or afternoon, from Monday to Friday, at FGV - Praia de Botafogo, 190, 13º andar - Botafogo, State of Rio de Janeiro.

Curriculum Structure and Disciplines

The curriculum structure of the Academic Master's degree course in Law and Regulation requires the completion of 30 credits – 6 for mandatory disciplines, 15 for elective disciplines, 4 for the thesis, plus 1 credit per semester, and 5 credits for supervised activities –, according to the activities provided for in the Graduate Program (Stricto Sensu) Regulations.

Each credit is equivalent to 15 hours. All disciplines that comprise the PPGD are taught in person at FGV in Rio de Janeiro.

Além das disciplinas, o Programa de Pós-graduação em Direito da Regulação oferece regularmente aos seus alunos a oportunidade de participar de projetos de pesquisa conduzidos por um ou mais professores. Os grupos, em estreita aderência com as diretrizes que orientam as práticas de pesquisa na FGV Direito Rio, privilegiam temas atuais, metodologias empíricas de investigação e produtos com potencial impacto para a sociedade.

Os projetos de pesquisa desenvolvidos e alguns dos seus principais resultados, que compõem o universo das atividades supervisionadas exigidas dos discentes, podem ser encontrados abaixo:
