About the event
On August 18th 2022, the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-South America Global Governance, in partnership with the Graduate program in Law and Regulation at FGV Rio Law, successfully organized the Research Seminar on the topic "COVID-19 and the Trials and Tribulations of Global Health Governance," featuring renowned Professor Jan Wouters from the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies at KU Leuven. The seminar was moderated by Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, the coordinator of the Centre.
During the engaging debate, Professor Wouters provided valuable insights into the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, examining the actions taken by international organizations such as the WHO and the UN, as well as exploring the perspectives of different international forums and states.
Furthermore, the researchers affiliated with the Centre of Excellence had the opportunity to present the preliminary findings of their research project titled "The Implementation of WHO Acts by the Brazilian Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches." This allowed for a comprehensive discussion on the challenges and achievements related to the incorporation of WHO measures within Brazil's governmental framework.
