Doctor in International Law of economics from Università Bocconi (2013). Master of Laws from Università degli Studi di Bologna. Professor of Law in the undergraduate program, and permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program (Stricto Sensu) in Law and Regulation at FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School. Professor of Law and Information Regulation, and coordinator of the E-commerce Center at FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School. Fascinated by the interaction of Law, technology, and markets, he researches various topics surrounding the roles and responsibilities of digital platforms, as well as other intermediaries in the digital ecosystem. 

Professor Nicolo's research was quoted, among others, by the OECD, the Council of Europe, the UN Special Judge-Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, the UK House of Lords, and the European Parliament. He is co-founder of the Coalition on Liability of the Platforms of the Internet Governance Forum, a founding member of the MyData Organization, and the leader of its Brazilian Hub. He is also affiliated with the Stanford Center for Internet and Society, the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society, the Tilburg Law and Economics Center, and the Brazilian Institute for Civil Liability Studies. Before establishing his academic home at FGV, he worked in England (University of Leeds and University of Sussex) for three years and in the Netherlands (Tilburg University) for two years. He also held positions as professor and visiting researcher at the Law schools of the University of Western Australia, the Graduate Institute of Geneva, New York University, Harvard University, and at the Max Planck Institute for Competition and Innovation.
