PhD in International Law from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Master in Latin-American Integration from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). Bachelor of Laws from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). He was a visiting professor at the Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University, and a Senior Scholar at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He was President of the Associação Brasileira de Ensino do Direito (AbeDi).
