PhD in International Economic Law from Bocconi University (2013) and Master of Laws from the University of Bologna. Professor of the undergraduate law program and permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Regulatory Law at FGV Direito Rio. Professor of Information Law and Regulation, and coordinator of the e-Commerce Center at FGV Direito Rio. Visiting professor of the LL.M. in Law programs of the FGV Rio Law Program. Fascinated by the interaction of law, technology, and markets, his research focuses on the roles and responsibilities of digital platforms, as well as other intermediaries in the digital ecosystem.

Professor Nicolo's research has been cited by, among others, the OECD, the Council of Europe, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, the UK House of Lords, the European Parliament, and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE). He is a founding member and awardee of the MyData Organization, a UNDP consultant, and a non-governmental advisor to CADE on the International Competition Network. He is also affiliated with the Stanford Center for Internet and Society, the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society, the Tilburg Law and Economics Center, and the Brazilian Institute for Civil Liability Studies. Before establishing his academic home at FGV, he worked for three years in England (University of Leeds and University of Sussex) and two years in the Netherlands (Tilburg University). He also held positions as a professor and visiting researcher at the law schools of the Australian National University, the University of Western Australia, the Graduate Institute of Geneva, New York University, Harvard University, and the Max Planck Institute for Competition and Innovation.
