The Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at FGV Rio Law hosted the third Latin American edition of the Computers, Privacy, and Data Protection Conference, CPDP LatAm 2023, on July 19th and 20th. With the theme "Data Protection, Cooperation, and Innovation in Latin America," the event brought together experts from Brazil and abroad and fostered discussions from various diverse and complementary perspectives on data protection in Latin America.
In addition to Professor Luca Belli, coordinator of CTS-FGV, the event featured the UN Special Rapporteur on Privacy, Ana Brian, the Director of the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), Waldemar Gonçalves, as well as Samantha Oliveira, Data Protection Officer at Mercado Livre, Yasodara Cordova, a Principal Researcher on Privacy at Unico IDtech, and Nina da Hora, a researcher at CTS-FGV. The event could further count on Marcelo Martinez, President of the Digital Relationship Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Estela Aranha, Director of the Digital Rights branch at the Ministry of Justice, Jonathan Mendoza, Secretary of Data Protection at INAI, and Virginia Pardo, member of the Data Protection Authority of Uruguay, among others.
CPDP LatAm serves as the Latin American platform for discussions on privacy, data protection, and technology, which includes the Latin American editions of the Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) conferences, MyData, and Privacy Law Scholars Conference (PLSC).
