In November, FGV Rio Law Associate Dean for International Affairs and Global Cooperation, Rodrigo Vianna, had the pleasure to participate at the launch event of the PPLE+ Global Alliance, organized by IE Law School (Madrid).
The PPLE+ Global Alliance is a network of prestigious institutions engaged in interdisciplinary education across Philosophy, Politics, Law, Economics, Public Policy, and related fields, such as FGV Rio Law, King’s College London, Singapore Management University (SMU), University of New South Wales (UNSW), University of Edinburgh, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Universidad de los Andes, Luiss University, University of Amsterdam, University of Pretoria, and IE Law School.
The initiative promotes collaborative partnerships through joint academic seminars and short courses, a series of webinars, summer programs and immersive weeks, global faculty and student exchange, guest teaching opportunities, and best-practices dialogues.
Promoted by IE Law School, the launch event was opened by a conversation between Lee Newman, IE Business School Dean, and Soledad Atienza, IE Law School Dean, on how universities can prepare students for an unpredictable professional landscape shaped by automation, data, and the evolving nature of work.
The second part of the event featured a thought-provoking panel moderated by Eugenia Castrillón, IE Law School Vice Dean for Programs, Olivia Hamill, Director and Head of Oxford Analytica Europe, Jaime de Aguinaga, IE University Vice Provost, and Professor Norberto de Andrade, IE Law School Academic Director and former Director of AI Policy at Meta. The panelists explored how academia, business, and policy can collaborate to prepare the next generation of global problem-solvers.
Finally, the event concluded with a collaborative workshop to design the Alliance’s roadmap, during which the members had the opportunity to present their universities, as well as their projects, missions, and other relevant initiatives.
