FGV Rio Law Dean Sérgio Guerra visited Yale Law School and the UH Law Center as part of FGV Rio Law’s Globalization strategy. Starting with presenting the new model of operation and integration of FGV Rio Law into the global scenario of legal education, he met with representatives from the Yale MacMillan Center, including Steven Wilkinson, Vice Provost for Global Strategy, Asia Neupane, Director of the Office of International Affairs, and Councils on Latin American & Iberian Studies and European Studies, as well as Claudia Valeggia, Chair of the Council on Latin American & Iberian Studies. During the meeting, he provided a detailed presentation of the project aimed at expanding the international partnership and activities with Yale Law School for 2024. The meetings continued in chilly New Haven at Yale Law School, where Dean Guerra had a meeting with Professor Susan Rose-Ackerman to discuss the current controversies surrounding the Administrative State, including the Major Questions Doctrine. Additionally, he met with Professor Owen Fiss, who will be sponsoring one of our professors as visiting researcher next year. During the visit, Dean Guerra was received by Carrianna Field, the new Director of the Graduate Program, which served as an opportunity to update her on FGV Rio Law’s activities and partnerships with Yale University, as well as Thais Sobczak, Program Director, and Bradley Hayes, Director of International Programs, both of whom have been long-term partners.

Later, Dean Guerra continued his Global School activities aimed at structuring new strategic international partnerships for FGV Rio Law in Houston, the world capital of the energy industry. There, following a warm welcome and tour of the Law School's modern facilities, he had a productive meeting at the University of Houston Law Center, where he was generously received by Dean Leonard M. Baynes through Professors Norman Nadorff (Counsel, Mayer Brown) and Julian Cardenas Garcia (Director, Center for U.S. and Mexican Law). He presented the structure and projects of FGV Rio Law, aiming to establish a strategic partnership involving faculty and student mobility, as well as joint research on energy transition and environmental issues. In addition to Professors Nadorff and Cardenas Garcia, the meeting included Michael Pelletier (Institute for Global Engagement), Greg Vetter (Associate Dean), as well as Professors Philip Lau and Denney Wright.
