FGV Rio Law reaches the semifinals of the 30th Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition

From 19 to 23 May, FGV Rio Law Human Rights Team reached the semifinals of the 30th edition of Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition (IAMoot) 2025, held in Washington, D.C., United States.

Organized by the American University Washington College of Law, as part of the Program on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the competition celebrated its 30th anniversary, featuring the topics of “Human Trafficking and Human Rights.” The Competition is a unique trilingual (English, Portuguese, and Spanish) event established to train law students on how to use the Inter-American human rights legal system as a legitimate forum for redressing human rights violations.

In addition to reaching the semifinals, the FGV Rio Law Human Rights Team received three distinctions in the following categories, “Best Memorial for the Victims in Portuguese”, “Best Memorial for the State in Portuguese”, and “Best Overall Memorial”.

The Human Rights Team included the oralists Leonardo Neuenschwander Chammas do Nascimento and Pérola Kim Dias Rodrigues de Carvalho, under the guidance of Leandro Léo Rebelo and Amanda Simões de Lima Paiva, as well as Eduardo Vignoli Louback, Bruna Fernandes Simões, and Eduarda Cosaquiviti Cardoso.
