FGV Rio Law welcomes a new cohort of Exchange Students

In February, FGV Rio Law, through its Office of International Affairs and Global Cooperation, welcomed a new cohort of exchange students for this semester, from 5 different countries and universities, including Stockholm University in Sweden, Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain, Warwick University in the UK, Universidade de Coimbra in Portugal, and Université de Fribourg in Switzerland. At the same time, some of our own students left Rio to spend a semester abroad across 6 different countries and 8 universities, such as Panthéon-Assas in Paris, Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Argentina, and Masaryk University in Czech Republic.

As in every semester, as part of the program to introduce and integrate the new exchange students to FGV Rio Law and Rio de Janeiro, the Office of International Affairs and Global Cooperation organized a series of activities and social events, such as an Orientation Day, an Exchange Fair, and a city tour around historic Rio de Janeiro downtown area.

Required for all new exchange students, the Orientation Day aimed to introduce them to FGV Rio Law’s academic environment, to make them understand how to access campus resources and support services, how to participate in students’ associations and provide them with some additional helpful information about the everyday life in Rio. Additionally, exchange students also participated in the Exchange Fair, where they had the opportunity to meet FGV Rio Law students, and present their home universities.

Lastly, FGV Rio Law offered the exchange students a guided walking tour around the historic Rio de Janeiro downtown area. They explored local neighborhoods, such as Cinelândia, Uruguaiana and Lapa, visiting the Brazilian National Library, the Municipal Theater, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro, the Lapa Arches, and the Selarón Stairs.
