Between August, September and October, FGV Rio Law welcomed four guest lecturers to teach international short courses in English at the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs.
Among the visiting faculty were Professor Tito Rendas, from the Universidade Católica de Lisboa in Portugal, a partner institution of the Law Schools Global League, who delivered a short course on “Generative AI for Lawyers,” which explores how generative artificial intelligence can be applied in legal practice, including drafting contracts, conducting legal research, analyzing case law, and supporting strategic decision-making, while addressing the ethical, professional, and regulatory challenges.
FGV Rio Law also hosted Professor Tim Clark, from the University of New South Wales in Australia, another partner institution from the Law Schools Global League, who taught the course “Introduction to the Common Law”, as well as Professor Roberto Carapeto, from the University of Nagoya in Japan, who lectured on “Intellectual Property and the Digital World”. Last but not least, Gustavo Becker, from the University of Luxembourg, taught our students on “Multinational Corporations and Human Rights”.
In addition, FGV Rio Law offered 12 full-semester courses taught in English this semester, covering subjects ranging from Arbitration and International Commerce, Digital Governance and Regulation, Media and Entertainment Law, to Betting and Gambling Regulation, Human Rights, and Marketing for Lawyers.
Next year, FGV Rio Law will open a call for proposals for guest lecturers to teach an international one-week short course on either undergraduate or graduate level. Among the benefits, FGV Rio Law will provide the guest lectures with plane tickets to and from Rio de Janeiro, hotel accomodation, and an additional lump sum to cover expenses and as a small remuneration.
