In mid-March, FGV Rio Law welcomed a distinguished delegation from Notre Dame Law School to celebrate the academic partnership between the two institutions and discuss future joint projects. The visit marked an important step in strengthening international collaboration in legal education and research.
The Notre Dame delegation included Dean G. Marcus Cole, Professor Paul Miller (Associate Dean for International Programs), Professor Carlos Bernal (Inter-American Human Rights Commissioner and University of Dayton Professor of Law), Mike Hildreth (Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Notre Dame), and Thaïs Burmeister Pires (Director of Notre Dame University Initiatives in Brazil). They were received by Antonio Maristrello Porto, Vice Dean of FGV Rio Law, alongside Rodrigo Vianna (Head of the Office of International Affairs and Global Cooperation) and Dario Ramon Buschor (Assistant Dean).
Following the official signing of the agreement, Dean Cole held a special talk on the future of legal education before a select audience of around 20 academics and legal professionals. His remarks focused on the evolving role of legal education in an increasingly interconnected world, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation.
One of the highlights of the visit was a fireside chat titled "Trump 2.0 – Effects on Brazil and the World," delivered by Dean G. Marcus Cole. The event attracted students eager to engage in discussions about the potential global impacts of a second Trump administration. Moderated by Dario Ramon Buschor, the event featured insightful student questions that enriched the debate, reflecting the high level of interest in international political and legal dynamics.
By committing to this new partnership, FGV Rio Law reaffirms its commitment to fostering global legal dialogue, expanding academic opportunities, and strengthening its collaboration with leading institutions worldwide. We are looking forward to a meaningful and lasting partnership.
