FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School announces the opening of the selection process for the position of Researcher of the FGV Centre for Global Law (FGV CPDG), coordinated by Prof. Dr. Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida.
FGV CPDG has been launched by FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School in April 2023, with the purpose of conducting research and studies on Global Law and Governance, taking into consideration the context and the specific demands of the Global South. It contemplates transnational activities and structural links with academic institutions in Brazil and worldwide to share knowledge and develop joint endeavours and partnership.
The headline project of the FGV Centre for Global Law is the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-LA Global Challenges, funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, which represents the highest academic degree awarded by the European Union.
Selected candidates will work on research related to the four main research areas of the Centre: (A) Global Regulation, (B) Global Litigation, (C) Climate Change and Forests, and (D) Human Rights and Democracy.
1. Objective
The objective of this announcement is to organize the selection process for Researchers to the Centre for Global Law of FGV.
2. Summary of the position
Candidates will compete for positions destined at Masters or Master’s degree candidates (i), and at PHD candidates (ii) in Law, Social Science, International Relations, Economics or related areas. Application of candidates from different nationalities and legal backgrounds is encouraged. Researchers will work on the activities developed by the FGV Centre for Global Law, which are carried out in person at FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
3. Responsibilities
- Conduct research in international law and related topics;
- Collaborate with other researchers on multidisciplinary projects;
- Compliance with research project schedules and deliverables;
- Analyse and interpret legal data and present results clearly and concisely;
- Contribute to academic publications and research reports;
- Participate in and support the preparation of conferences and events relevant to the field;
- Work on promoting project results through websites and social media
4. Evaluation criteria
Pre-requisites:
- Masters or Master’s degree candidates or PHD candidates in Law, Social Science, International Relations, Economics or related areas;
- Interest in conducting research in International Law and European Union Law in a multidisciplinary environment;
- Availability for in-person work;
- Availability for partial-time dedication (30 hours per week).
Differential criteria:
- Previous experience with conducting research projects and financial reports ;
- Previous experience with quantitative and qualitative research;
- Fluency in foreign languages, notably English;
- Multidisciplinary background;
- Ability to work with software for analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, such as R, NVivo etc. .
5. Application and selection process
Candidates should apply by duly filling out the form by 23h59 of March 30th. Submissions should contain the following annexes:
- The candidate's curriculum vitae;
- A motivation letter written in English (maximum 1 page);
- Up to three selected publications.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview, which will be conducted entirely in English. Further information regarding the position will be provided at the interview.
