Operation Car Wash is the result of transformations in the legislation, court precedents, and practice of Brazilian institutions. Its results generated innovations in the fight against corruption in addition to practices challenged by academics and lawyers. These transformations require an in-depth study on the part of academic entities, either for their proper analysis, to improve institutional practices, or to use the lessons learned from Operation Car Wash as a reference for future cases in Brazil and other countries.

Project Objectives
The general objective of the research project is to analyze the stages of Operation Car Wash in quantitative and qualitative terms to identify elements for creating public policies to fight against corruption and identify ineffective or challenged practices and their causes. There are three specific objectives: (a) to systematize knowledge about the causes of Operation Car Wash and its institutional impacts in Brazil and in the countries where the operation unfolded; (b) to produce recommendations originating from Operation Car Wash experience for anti-corruption policies in Brazil, and (c) to systematize quantitative information about the Operation Car Wash lawsuits.
