Sobre o Evento
FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), along with Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, is glad to announce a jointly organized Expert Workshop, about “Transformative Constitutionalism in Latin America and International Economic Law: Avoiding Conflict and Fostering Dialogue”. The event will be held on August 28th and 29th, 2017, at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ main office, in Rio de Janeiro. (FGV Botafogo | Praia de Botafogo, 190 - 12° floor)
This workshop aims at examining how the International Economic Law (IEL) instruments affect the prospect of a transformative constitutionalism in Latin America. Ius Constitutionale Commune en América Latina (ICCAL) serves as the framework to engage with this problématique. Based on a multi-level perspective of Latin-American constitutional law, comprising common features of Latin-American constitutions as well as key aspects of the Inter-American Human Rights System, ICCAL is especially concerned with concepts such as social inclusion, institucionalidad, liberal democracy, and human rights. At the same time, ICCAL also encompasses concepts, such as dialogue and pluralism, which may help to structure the relationship between IEL and Latin-American constitutional law.
The Expert Workshop will comprise an opening session, two plenary sessions featuring invited speakers and one-day workshop for junior scholars.
Featured speakers will include: Armin Von Bogdandy, Flavia Piovesan, Franz Ebert, Joaquim Falcão, Oscar Vilhena Vieira, Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida Pedro Villarreal, Diane Desierto, José Manuel Zarate, René Urueña Hernández, Fabio Morosini, Cristián Delpiano, Marilda Rosado, Christiana Ochoa and Daniel Gruenbaum.
